Department
The Communications Department's main responsibility is to support the lobby towards brand owners by creating public awareness for Fairfood’s work among various target groups. The department is directed by the Manager Communications, and it consists of four international projects: E-campaigning, Creative Design, Website and Copywriting. These support the five national projects: Stunts NL, Press NL, External Relations NL, based in Amsterdam, Communications UK, based in London, and Communications Germany, based in Berlin.

Function
This is a new position in which you will have the opportunity to contribute to the introduction of Fairfood International in Germany. You will support the Berlin-based Project Leaders by helping to develop Fairfood’s communication strategy in the area of Social Media.
As Project Assistant Social Media, you will undertake a great variety of tasks. Among other, you will be responsible for: Researching the social media appearance (incl. Facebook, Twitter, blogs) of relevant organisations (NGOs, political foundations, media); Expanding the active social media network of Fairfood (esp. Facebook and Twitter) onto the relevant German market; Writing, editing and translating texts, e.g. comments, blog entries, and other online content; Managing content on online platforms; Fulfilling various administrative tasks. You will report to the Project Leader Communications Germany.

Your competencies
You are studying at or have graduated from a university, preferably with a focus on international development / political science, communications or humanities, or you have acquired an equivalent level of life and/or work experience. You possess excellent verbal and written skills in English and good skills in German. Ideally, you have already gained some experience in the field of online communications and/or in the area of sustainable development and fair trade. You enjoy facing challenges, and you are able to develop new ideas and present them to your colleagues in a structured manner. You are a team player, but you are also able to plan your work independently. You show initiative, are result-oriented and able to set priorities. Obviously, you have affinity with Fairfood’s goals.

This is an unpaid position which is suited as an internship to acquire work experience in the field of communications and at an NGO. We offer a versatile position within a young international organisation. You will have the freedom and opportunity to continue developing yourself and achieve tangible results. We value our employees and we fully recognise that flexibility in the amount of working hours might be important for you. To create a beneficial relationship for both parties, however, we prefer that you work for at least sixteen hours a week for a minimum period of three months. Ideal starting date would be late June, but there is some flexibility in this regard.
